Fantasy Man

by Kristen Painter

Sinking into sleep’s surrender

Whispered wishes fill my head,

Sweet visions of you.

Wanting, craving, hoping –

Hands seeking, searching, finding

Wisps of shimmering sleep

Taking shape.

Morphing into man.

My fantasy made flesh beside me.

I hesitate…

Quietly, cautiously, careful not to wake,

I caress your sleeping form,

My slumbering dream.

Fingers brush lips so soft,

A shoulder so warm,

A heart so surely beating.

I trace a line,

Heart to hip,

Amazed by the wonder of you.

Wondering who has gifted me

This waking dream.

Has a falling star made you mine?

Then I wished well,

And will again.

Too soon,

Dawn fades my dream

And you are gone.
